Thank you for using GA4 Optimizer and GA4 Live Debugger (collectively, the "Extensions"). Your privacy is our top priority. This policy outlines how both Extensions handle your information.

1. About These Extensions & Your Privacy

GA4 Optimizer and GA4 Live Debugger are free browser extensions created by an individual developer. GA4 Optimizer helps you work more efficiently with Google Analytics 4 reporting. GA4 Live Debugger helps you monitor and validate your GA4 tracking implementation. Your privacy is the top priority. These Extensions do not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data or your Google Analytics data. All operations and data storage are performed strictly locally within your browser.

2. Information We Don't Collect or Transmit

To be clear, the Extensions do not collect, transmit, or share data with our servers or any third parties. Specifically, we do not transmit:

• Your personal information (name, email, IP address, etc.).
• Your Google Analytics account data or property structures.
• Your general browsing history.
• Analytics about your use of the Extension itself.

3. How the Extensions Use Information Locally

The Extensions must temporarily access and store certain information strictly locally on your device to function. This information never leaves your browser:

• Analytics Network Payloads (GA4 Live Debugger): To provide real-time debugging, the Debugger intercepts Google Analytics network requests and dataLayer events on the websites you visit. This tracking data is held temporarily in your browser's local/session memory so you can view it in the interface. It is never transmitted to us or any third party.
• Email Addresses (GA4 Optimizer): To help you navigate "Missing Permissions" errors in the GA4 interface, the Optimizer temporarily reads the email addresses of the Google Accounts you are currently logged into to display an Account Switcher UI.
• Settings & Configuration Storage: Both Extensions use standard Browser Storage APIs to save your preferences, calculated metrics, and layout states.
• External Fetches (Team Sync): If you use the Data Dictionary Team Sync feature, the Extensions will make localized network requests to the specific URLs you provide (e.g., Google Sheets) to import your team's configuration.
• Clipboard Access: The "Click to Copy" features require permission to write to your clipboard.

4. Permissions We Request

To operate, the Extensions request the following permissions based on their functionality:

• <all_urls> (GA4 Live Debugger): Essential for the debugger to monitor Google Analytics network traffic and dataLayer pushes across arbitrary websites you are actively testing. We do not track or record your general browsing history.
• https://analytics.google.com/* (GA4 Optimizer): Essential for the Optimizer to modify the Google Analytics 4 user interface.
• webRequest & declarativeNetRequest: Used by the Debugger to intercept, decode, and optionally block analytics hits (e.g., preventing QA testing data from polluting your live GA4 properties).
• storage / sidePanel / tabs: Used to save your feature preferences locally, render the side panel UI, and interact with your active tabs.
• clipboardWrite: To enable click-to-copy functionalities.

5. Data Sharing

Since no personal data is collected or transmitted off-device by the developer, no data is shared with or sold to any third parties.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.

7. Website - Blog Update Notifications

If you subscribe to our blog update notifications via the form on our website:

• Data Collected: Your email address only.
• Purpose: To send you notifications when new blog posts are published. We will not use your email for any other purpose.
• Processor: We use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) as our email service provider to manage subscriptions and deliver emails.
• Retention: Your email is retained until you unsubscribe.
• Unsubscribe: Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time.
